Zorina Susan "Susie" Ali-Innocent was born in Trinidad and Tobago, in 1957 to both the Ali and Jaggesar families. As a teenager she relocated to New York and became a Queens girl. She later "found" Texas, where she called home for much of her adult life.
Susie was well traveled, having lived in and visited many countries; she delighted in collecting souvenirs and making lifelong friendships and memories along the way. Her adventures included driving across the continental U.S. with her family in tow and singing or humming her favorite recorded songs on repeat. She especially enjoyed visiting the Caribbean, sitting in or near the ocean for hours at a time with a cold beverage in hand.
Susie had a superpower, though she didn't know it, to connect with countless people throughout her life, many of whom became like family. Her most cherished moments were reunions of all her friends and family which she said made "the place feel more alive with everyone around".
After receiving her bachelors and becoming a registered nurse, Susie began her 20-year military career in the Army where she rose to the rank of Major. As an Army Nurse her time was dedicated to the labor and delivery ward where the work was demanding and the days long. Despite this, Susie raised her two children, obtained her master's degree, and still sung along with her favorite songs.
Susie was called to Heaven on April 13 th , 2022 surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her loving husband Patrick of 43 years, her two sons Patrick Anthony and Christopher, her daughter-in-law Leandra, her siblings Frank, Rasheeda, Rosina and Shorab, and her beloved cat, Peepers.
Though Susie is home now she will be missed, she will always be loved, and will never be forgotten.
: In lieu of flowers, please consider a small donation to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to Susie's heart as a cancer survivor herself.
