Zenta Velta Comer, nee Kunstmanis, was born on August 16, 1935, in Liepaja, Latvia. She peacefully departed this world on November 11, 2023, at the age of 88, in Magnolia, Texas. Zenta was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.

Zenta led a vibrant and fulfilling life, with a multitude of interests that brought her joy and fulfillment. She was a member of various organizations, including the International Club, Society of University Women, and League of Women Voters. Zenta had a deep appreciation for the arts, gardening, culture, cuisine, fashion, and health. Her talent as a seamstress was remarkable, as she could create anything from elegant gowns to beautiful home decor. Music, especially Latvian song festivals and an opera she attended with her daughter, stirred her soul.

Volunteerism was an integral part of Zenta's life. She enthusiastically participated in Bible school, summer camp, and any social event where she could lend a helping hand or cook delicious meals. Zenta had a passion for collecting various items, including stamps, seashells, rocks, glassware, coins, china, and butterflies. Her first jobs were at a library and hospital, showcasing her dedication to serving others. Zenta was a rarity in her era, as she graduated from university and worked before starting a family, to whom she devoted herself tirelessly.

Zenta's love and kindness knew no bounds. She created a cozy world of beauty and joy that her family fondly recalls. With her skilled hands, she crafted useful and attractive items, bringing happiness and comfort to those around her. Whether it was mulled cider fragrancing the home in winter or fresh fruit salads in the summer, Zenta's various talents brought pleasure to many. She had a knack for outdoor dining, hosting parties, and organizing splendid picnics. When her children grew older, Zenta resumed her teaching career, imparting knowledge in all subjects to high school students, an experience she greatly enjoyed. Her students adored her and sought her advice and guidance.

Zenta's dedication extended beyond her immediate family. She provided extensive care for her grandsons, ensuring they had an excellent start in life. Her love for her husband, Glen Shields Comer, Jr., was deep and unwavering, as she cared for him with devotion. Zenta's presence illuminated the lives of those around her, and her absence is profoundly felt. She was a marvelously rare individual, beloved by all who knew her. Her memory is treasured, as her light tenderly remains in our hearts. In every artwork, leaf, and space she left behind, we see the imprint of her beauty and grace. Zenta was truly an angel who graced our lives.

Zenta is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Glen Shields Comer, Jr., her children Glen Comer III and wife Connie, Inta Stanley and husband Kirk, Inga Keene and husband Gerry, and Roland Comer and wife Lisa. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, Garrett Comer, Jason Silver, Brienna Silver, Dr. Justin Comer, Ryan Comer and wife Elizabeth Canelakes, Natalie Stanley, Sophie Stanley, and her three great-grandchildren, Ayla, Inara, and Zander.

Zenta was preceded in death by her mother, Natalie Kunstmanis, her father, Zanis Kunstmanis, and her brother, John Kunstmanis.

Zenta attended Paul Schulte High School and later pursued higher education at Indiana State Teachers College. She had a fulfilling career as a teacher, shaping the lives of countless students.

Zenta worshipped at First Baptist Church and Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she found solace and strength.

A celebration of Zenta's life will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, November 16, at Klein Funeral Home, located at 14711 FM 1488, Magnolia, Texas 77355.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Zenta's memory to the Arbor Day Foundation, an organization that aligns with her love for nature and beauty.

The compassionate professionals at Klein Funeral Home in Magnolia, Texas, are entrusted with the arrangements for Zenta's final farewell.
