Zachary "Zac" Breed, 30, of Spring, Texas, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on April 7, 2024.  Zac fought a courageous battle for 16 months following a horrific car accident on December 31, 2022. The accident occurred while Zac was pursuing his long-standing dream of moving to West Texas to live alongside his beloved cousin and his family.   Time on the ranch was among the happiest for Zac – and his smiles reflected it.

Zac was preceded in death by his fraternal grandparents, John and Louise Breed, and maternal grandparents, Dr. Samuel E. and Mary Evans.  He is survived by his parents, John and Melanie E. Breed of Spring, Texas, and his brother, J. Aaron Breed of Berkeley, California. In addition, he is survived by his uncles and aunts, Roger A. Breed (Marilyn), Susan E. Hohn (Michael), Michael N. Evans (Diane), and E. Rebecca Evans-Churchwell (Calvin).

Zac was a graduate of Klein Collins High School in Spring and the Lone Star Transportation Institute in Houston.  In his youth, Zac excelled in sports including roller hockey and swimming.  Later, he was an avid marksman and gun collector – and video game enthusiast. His time spent gaming drew him close to gamers around the world who valued his friendship and skill.  Always willing to take up a new challenge – Zac had participated in Tough Mudder events and skydiving.  He possessed a love for music and poetry – and often wrote poignantly frank commentary about the state of modern life and the struggles faced by his generation.

As an adult, Zac held several transportation and logistics roles including time working at Great Southwest Paper. a Division of Imperial Dade.  He also excelled in retail sales during his time at Spring-based Forever Vapes.  In moving to Gatesville in late 2022 – Zac planned to pursue rural living and farm management.

Shortly before his accident, Zac reaffirmed his faith in Jesus Christ and his reliance on Him.  He returned to his Christian faith and began a serious study of the Bible.  In this, Zac had found peace which was sometimes absent in the years before.

Following his accident, Zac received great care at several facilities – beginning at Baylor Scott White (Temple, Texas); Kindred LTAC (Houston), the Nexus Specialty Hospital (Shenandoah, Texas); Memorial Herman Hospitals (Woodlands and Houston) and lastly – Cornerstone LTAC (Conroe, Texas).  The family is grateful to the doctors, nurses, respiratory therapists, occupational and physical therapists, CNAs, and other staff members for their professionalism and compassion. To many of them, Zac was more than just another patient – an individual they came to love and respect. Their efforts are appreciated and will long be remembered.

The family also is grateful for the support and prayers offered by our brothers and sisters in Christ around the world.  The family's home church, Northwest Bible Church in Spring, Texas continuously prayed over the family and for Zac's healing.  These prayers continue for the mending of hearts and spirits as we grieve the loss of our sweet son.

A memorial service will be held on April 27, 2024, at Northwest Bible Church, 5503 Fellowship Lane, Spring, TX 77379 beginning at 1:00 PM.

For those wishing to donate in honor of Zac's memory, the family is suggesting the Texas Institute for Rehabilitation and Research (TIRR) Foundation , a nonprofit 501 (c) 3 organization that seeks to improve the lives of people who have sustained traumatic brain injury.
