Yvonne Petersen, of Conroe, Texas, was escorted to heaven by angels on June 20, 2020. She is survived by her husband of 60 years Don Petersen, daughter Sherry Michalk and son-in-law Tim, daughter Linda Petersen, son Jerry Petersen and daughter-in-law Carlotta, grandchildren Brett Michalk and wife Kalani, Christine Grey and husband Andre, Corinne Petersen, and Cole Petersen, and great-grandchildren Samson, Asher, Miriam, Othniel, and Deborah. She will also be remembered by sisters Lois Matthias, Carol Smith, and Mary Maultby, her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

Yvonne grew up in the town of Waconia, Minnesota. She attended Concordia Lutheran College - St. Paul and received her elementary teaching degree. Her first teaching call was to Houston, Texas, where she met and married Don Petersen and where she and Don began their family. After Yvonne left the teaching profession, she worked in the HR department at Shell Oil Company in Houston until her retirement.

As a working wife and mother in an era when many women did not work outside the home, Yvonne believed in giving her best in all her roles. At Shell, her work was glowingly praised in performance reviews. At home, Yvonne and Don taught their children to contribute to the household chores at an early age – which gave her more time for sewing children's clothing, gardening, baking sweet rolls, pies, cakes, and cookies, and maintaining a loving, Christian home. Yvonne enjoyed reading mysteries, baking, embroidery, volleyball, singing, and "doing for" her children and grandchildren. She was happiest when all her family was present; even the memory loss she suffered in her last years could not erase her love for her family. Her family will always remember her beautiful, loving smiles.

Yvonne will be laid to rest at a private graveside ceremony at the Klein Memorial Park in Magnolia, Texas, on June 23. Dr. Stephen Sohns of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Spring, Texas, will officiate. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date.
