YuVonna Marie Quinones beloved mother, grammy and friend passed away in Willis, TX on January 4th, 2025. Born January 17th, 1946 in Kansas City Missouri to father Giuseppe "Jack" Messina and mother Wave Harper. She grew up in Norwalk, California where she met the love of her life, Richard Quinones when they were 16 years old while attending Norwalk High School. Vonnie studied and became a dental hygienist after high school. Her and Richard were married on November 28th, 1964. They then moved into their first apartment and met unknowingly, lifelong friends Ken and Margaret Murray. Richard and Ken enlisted into the Marine Corp. in January of 1966 during the Vietnam War. Richard was stationed in North Carolina at Camp LeJeune and Vonnie of course went with him. Richard and Vonnie returned to California where their first child, Richard Dennis was born on June 23rd, 1968. Not too long after they welcomed daughter Lisa Ann into the family on November 25th, 1970. As her children grew Vonnie was ever present in encouraging her children to participate in worship and summer church camps, sports, regular beach nights and family vacations. Vonnie was always a full-time mom that worked part time jobs off and on. In 1989 the family accepted a transfer from Richards's employer to The Woodlands, Texas to begin a new chapter in their lives. In Texas Vonnie found a new church home and worked part time in her new community. As Richards position changed with a new employer, travel was a constant for them. One of the favourite trips that Vonnie went on was to Italy with Richard for work where they stayed for six weeks. Following Richard's retirement and the start of welcoming grandchildren Richard and Vonnie moved to a lake house in Lake Forest Falls, Conroe. Vonnie spent as much time making lasting memories with her grandkids encouraging worship, sports, many sleepovers and family gatherings. Richard passed away on June 22nd, 2022, leaving Vonnie heartbroken. Vonnie got to enjoy seeing her grandchildren turn in to young adults and was always their biggest cheerleader.
Vonnie is preceded in death by her Grandmother Ruth "May" Rogers, Grandfather Gordon Kain, Father Jack Messina and mother Waver Harper, husband Richard Quinones.
Vonnie is survived in this life by her loving son Rick Quinones, daughter Lisa Kennedy; son in law Randy Kennedy; grandchildren Randy Kennedy Jr., Kain Kennedy, Trevor Quinones and Maci Quinones along with many family and great friends.
The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. they kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.
