Jean Siegmund of Spring, Texas, left this world on August 3rd, 2021, one day after celebrating her 91st birthday and just a few days after her family gathered to say goodbye in a memorial service for her husband of 68 years, Joe Siegmund.

Jean Catron Siegmund was born in Meadow Grove, Nebraska on August 2nd 1930. She spent her younger days in Nebraska until she married at age 21. Her parents were Roy and Margaret Catron. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her siblings, Marilyn Engelhardt, Sally Davidson, infant Rita Catron, Hugh Catron and Sandra Fadler. Jean remained in close contact with all of her siblings and their families. She was a great letter writer and card sender for loved one's birthdays. She knew how to make people feel loved and special.

Jean was perfectly happy and content being a wife, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was active in the community and seemed to be able to juggle many roles at the same time without compromising her effectiveness. She was also a very loyal and fun friend for many people her entire life. She loved people and was genuinely interested in them. Her laughter was contagious, and her joy overflowed. She loved to give special gifts to those she loved, and she was gifted at knowing just what to give.

She met her husband, Joe, at the University of Nebraska in 1950 and got married in 1951. She worked in the geology department as a secretary, and he was a geology student. He claimed the only way he could graduate was to get her help. Together they had five children: (Tim) Paul Timothy Siegmund, David Scott Siegmund, Mark Alan Siegmund, Bruce Edward Siegmund, and Jane Elizabeth Siegmund. These five children have spread themselves all over the globe as they married and lived in Africa, Asia, Europe and South America. The seeds from little White River, South Dakota and Meadow Grove, Nebraska have spread all over the world. These five children produced twenty grandchildren that have been blessed to have such an involved, loving grandmother. They were blessed to have 14 much loved great-grandchildren with another one arriving this month.

Jean was known to be extremely organized and efficient in all she did. It didn't matter if it were the local library, her kitchen, pantry, or charity organization. Everything had a place and she kept it there. She often was a blessing to others as she took her skills on the road to help others organize their belongings and be more efficient. During her lifetime she often volunteered at the Methodist Church or some other cause that could use her services.

Her final earthly home was her third story apartment at the Village in Spring. It has been a wonderful home for her and Joe. She's made numerous friends while there and has enjoyed the variety of activities offered to the residents. She was an avid reader and volunteered in the local library room. The last couple of years, one of her greatest joys was spending time with her bridge playing friends. She played bridge for over 70 years and it brought her close to the ones

she played with. Her children and grandchildren learned that you don't call or visit while she is playing bridge with her friends. She loved those friends dearly and cherished those times together.

Her last couple of weeks were spent preparing for her husband, Joe's memorial service that was delayed three times. She put the entire service together before facing her own health issues. After being admitted to the hospital, her family was able to visit her before she left us. Her last breath here on earth was taken right after the chaplain prayed and left the hospital room. She absolutely made the most of every breath here on earth.

A memorial for village residents only is set for Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 11am at The Village at Gleannloch Farms Chapel in Spring, TX. A second memorial for friends and family will be in Klein United Methodist Church, 5920 FM 2920, Spring, Texas at 10:00 am on Saturday, August 21, 2021.
