Obituary

W R (Butch) Blackmon passed away on 4/23/2018 in Houston Texas. He was born on 2/15/41 in Crockett, Texas to Wilmer & Lillian Blackmon. Butch was a loving, dedicated, and proud husband, father and grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dorthy Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Judy Slay Blackmon, one son, Ray Blackmon, and one grandson, Christopher Blackmon, his brother Steve and his wife, Sue, and sister-in-law, Margie Slay. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

After High School, Butch served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon his discharge, he was honored and privileged to continue his serve as a peace officer for the Harris County Sherriff's Office, and Harris County Constable Pct. 4 attaining the rank of Captain.

Butch's big heart and generosity knew no bounds. Wherever he saw a need he responded with his time, talents and resources. From it's inception, he served on the board of Texas Honor Ride. Over the years, he was involved in many organizations, including the Warriors Weekend, Ride for Kids, Nun Run, Back the Badge, and Camp Hope. He was the point of contact for anyone in need of assistance of any kind.

He loved to travel and he and Judy had many exciting adventures during their years together. Butch also loved to cook and served his wonderful Bar-B-Que to many, many people. He was always quick with a joke and loved to make people laugh.
