Worth Allen Washburn, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, the 16th day of 2018.
Worth was born January 21, 1923 in Flynn, Texas, the son of John David Washburn and
Vesta Vain House Washburn. Worth moved to Houston when he was 18 years old and
remained in the area the rest of his life. He served in the Army during WW II in the
Philippines. Worth worked for many years at Great Southern Life Insurance Co. and
later joined the executive team at Columbia Universal Life Insurance Co.
Worth was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Washburn. Worth was also

predeceased by his brother, JD Washburn, and was the last of over 30 close first
cousins on his mother's side of the family. Worth is survived by his children, Jan
Locander and her husband Robert, Wayne Washburn and his wife Kathy; and his
grandchildren Amy Wiggins-Fernandez and her husband Ryan Fernandez, Michael
Wiggins, Laura Washburn and Elizabeth Washburn as well as numerous cousins, nieces
and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at Tomball United Methodist Church, 1603 Baker Drive in

Tomball at 11 am on Monday, January 22nd, 2018. Immediately following, all are invited
to greet the family during a reception at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests
that memorial contributions in Mr. Washburn's name be directed to Tomball Emergency
Assistance Ministries or Tomball United Methodist Church.
