Winifred Theresa “Winnie” Hughes Williamson, age 78, of Spring, Texas, peacefully passed away on August 29, 2026.

Winnie was born on May 31, 1948, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Charles and Mary Hughes. She was the seventh of thirteen children and was raised in a large, loving Catholic family. After the family moved to Houston, they attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. In 1962, when St. Ambrose Catholic Church was established within their parish boundary, Winnie began attending St. Ambrose Grammar School as a sixth grader. She was a member of the school’s oldest class and was among the first eighth graders to graduate from St. Ambrose in 1963. She later attended and graduated from Incarnate Word Academy in 1967 before earning her bachelor’s degree in Education from Stephen F. Austin State University.

While attending Stephen F. Austin, Winnie met James “Pat” Williamson through a blind date arranged by Judy Williamson, Pat’s sister and Winnie’s friend. Winnie and Pat were married on November 24, 1972, and shared 43 years of marriage until his passing in 2016.

Winnie devoted more than 40 years to education as a World Geography and History teacher, spending most of her career at Tomball High School. She was a respected educator, a steady presence in the classroom, and a dedicated advocate for her colleagues through her leadership in the Tomball teachers’ education association. Over the course of her career, she taught thousands of students and left a lasting impression through her patience, kindness, and quiet strength.

More than anything, Winnie was devoted to her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was always present for her children’s activities, from baseball and soccer practices and games to dance competitions, offering constant support in her gentle and quiet way. She adored her grandchildren, Dylan, Devin, Jack, and Ryan, and was always asking how they were doing and whether they were behaving.

Winnie truly cared for and loved everyone, always giving far more than she received. She enjoyed reading romance novels, learning and teaching history, spending time with family, and the simple joy of being with those she loved. She will be remembered for her soft demeanor, deep Catholic faith, steadfast love for her family, and the calm, caring presence she brought to so many lives.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James “Pat” Williamson; her parents, Charles and Mary Hughes; her brother, Charlie Hughes; and her sister, Therese Hughes.

She is survived by her son, Patrick Williamson and his wife, Alison, and their children, Dylan, Devin, and Jack; her son, Robert Williamson; her daughter, Nicole Verma and her husband, Jatin, and their son, Ryan; her siblings, Mary, Ann, Pat, Tommy, Joe, Humphrey, Bernie, Ginny, Josey, and Helen; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, colleagues, and former students.

Services will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Klein Funeral Home, located at 1400 W Main St, Tomball, TX 77375. The visitation will start at 5:00 p.m., the rosary will begin at 5:30 p.m., and the vigil service will start at 6:00 p.m.

The committal service will take place at 10:00 a.m. at Houston National Cemetery, located at 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
