Obituary

Wilson Blair Smith Jr, passed away on March 6, 2020, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 66, just two weeks shy of his birthday. He was born on March 21, 1953, in Houston, to the late Wilson B. Smith Sr and Mildred Marie Burklin Smith.  Wilson worked in may trades throughout his life before becoming an Electrician. His retirement came earlier than expected when he lost 80% of his vision at 45. He did not let that cripple him though. He moved into the new role of Pawpaw for his first grandchild that was born at that time.  Wilson is survived by his daughter, Della Smith Fernandez; grandchildren Austin Fernandez and Destiny Fernandez; Lifelong Friend, Barbara Kimbro; and 3 sisters He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. His love for nature started in boy scouts and let up to eagle scouts. As a young adult, he discovered his passion for hunting, and felt proud to use that passion to bring food to the table. He was a simple and hard working man who loved his family. He saw the value in everything, even if it meant collecting six broken things to make one good one.  Although he faced several hardships throughout his life, with the finality being Alzheimers, he did not let anything stop him from doing what he needed to do to support himself and his family. Wilson enjoyed his later years by scraping precious metals, and amassing a collection of rare coins that will be passed down to his grandchildren. He also enjoyed getting out and visiting family on special occasions.  Services for Wilson will be held at Klein funeral home in Magnolia, Texas. Viewing Service will be Wednesday the 11!th, 2020 @4-5 for Family and 5-7 for friends. Funeral services will be Thursday the 12th @ 2pm.
