Wilson "Billy" Chevalier
Wilson "Billy" Chevalier was born on January 24, 1955 to the late Irene Metoyer in Houston, Texas, where he lived a full life. After a tough- fought battle with cancer and dementia, he passed away on December 22, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones.
Billy was raised by his loving grandparents, Wilson and Leola Chevalier, and he told countless stories from his childhood that brought to life the great relationship he had with them. After graduating from St. Pius in 1973, he worked in the oil industry for over 35 years fixing complicated machines that only baffled others.
After retiring, Billy enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas with Sherry, seeing the sights and doing some gambling. He could often be found hanging out with family, working on cars, watching football or playing cornhole. He adored his grandchildren, and his face would light up when he saw them. He would always leave them with the parting line "Pawpaw loves you!" and his infamous hug with a pat on the back.
To know Billy was to love him. He was the most selfless, generous person you would ever meet. Billy never met a stranger - everyone was a friend, family or his "cuz." Whether he was telling you a story or joke, offering to help with something or reliving his racing days, you could guarantee it was done with a big grin on his face and at least one of his tag lines.
Although Billy may be gone, he will never be forgotten. His infectious laugh and huge smile will live in our hearts forever. He taught us to face the world and all of its adversities with a glass half full perspective, so with this, even though our hearts are aching, we will look up and smile knowing he is smiling back at us.
