Wilma Hanson (Williams), of Spring, Texas, passed away on June 16, 2021. She was 93 years.

Wilma was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Richard Hanson I; her parents Albert and Wanda Williams, brothers Charles, Harry, Randy, sisters Doris Pilcher, Marie Bukowski; son, Richard II, Marilyn Behymer, Delores Gaither.

Mrs. Hanson is survived by children Judy Klimek (Dennis), Steven Hanson and  Donald Hanson (Annette). Brothers William (Bill), Paul, and Larry. Sisters Edna Sheldon and  Linda Robinson. 10 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

Born in Truax, Iowa in the year 1927, Wilma was born in the house her parents lived in, worked on the family farm, and out of high school worked in the Ottumwa Hotel Cafe as a waitress. She met her future husband Richard Hanson at a Car Hop. Richard was right out the service, WWII.  They dated for a time and then married on November15, 1946.

They lived in Ottumwa, Iowa for the first 6 years of marriage. Then in late 1953 or early 1954 they moved to California. Her father Albert would always tell her to put a few dollars in her shoe in case of emergencies or a rainy day, which she always did. Richard worked for Oscar Meyer. With 5 kids and one on the way times were hard. They moved into a trailer courtyard and rented a trailer for a few years. Don the youngest child at the time, was spoiled, and had his own bedroom, the dresser drawer. With young children, the washing machine was an old wringer with a tub, and the outside clothesline was a mile long.

In California the Hanson's moved around a lot, but Bell Gardens, CA. was always home. Wilma enjoyed reading to her grandchildren, and telling them stories how it was to live when she was their age, working on a farm, laundry by hand, sharing the phone line with neighbors, and how easy you kids have it, making everyone laugh. There was always christian music on the radio or on the record player, a lot of Oakridge Boys, Statler Brothers, and Blackwoods, Tennessee Ernie Ford was within ear shot also. Some other favorite songs we could hear her sing when she was cleaning or cooking was "Mansion Over the Hilltop" by the Cathedrals, "He's Everything To Me" by The Imperials, "For The Goodtimes" by Ray Price.

She also worked off and on after marriage and raising 6 kids. She took jobs as a waitress, assembly line worker at C&W die casting. Church was a big part of her extended family. Where life long friends were made. Her "green thumb" put food on the table from her garden, also made the yard and the house look and smell wonderful with her flowers. Her favorite flower was the lilac.

Wilma lived in Paramount, CA. before retiring with Richard in Spring, TX. In retirement she spoiled grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She worked in the yard and learned how to crochet.  There are too many places and people to name who were a recipient of her crocheting masterpieces.

Known for a beautiful smile, She will be missed by all who ever met her and especially by her loving family.
