William "Lynn" Underwood was born on October 10, 1946 in Bryan, Texas.  He passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024 after a sudden decline in his health at the age of 77.

Lynn is survived by his beloved wife, Nadine, of 27 years. His children: sons Alan Underwood and wife Lucy and Ronald Underwood, stepson, Terry Bevil and wife Stacey, stepdaughter Annette Johnson and husband Micah.  Lynn's treasured grandchildren Hunter Franich (Tyler), Brittany Underwood, Colton Deming, Bryce Underwood, Amanda Underwood, Dominic Underwood, Daniel Underwood, Mycalyn Johnson, Allyson Underwood, Alex Bevil, Taylor Bevil, and Logan Bevil.  He is also survived by his sister Cindy Shealy.  Lynn was preceded in death by his parents Howard and Dorothy Underwood and sister Linda Guillory.

Lynn served as a firefighter for the Houston Fire Department for over 20 years before retiring.  To stay busy he started working as an equipment operator and continued for several years until retiring for good in 2004.

Lynn loved spending time with his family.  He looked forward to family gatherings and watching his grandchildren's sports and other activities whenever he could.  He was one proud Grandpa.  He had a lot of hobbies including bowling (where he once bowled a perfect 300 game), hunting, fishing, golf, or an occasional trip to "The Coushatta" with Nadine.  In return he would take her to Fredericksburg and "patiently" wait in the truck while she did her antiquing.  Lynn loved to play games and was fiercely competitive, even with the grandchildren, and would never intentionally let them win.  They tried their hardest to win, especially at ping pong. Lynn was an avid Astros fan and he and Nadine would go to games whenever they could.

Lynn had the biggest most generous heart. He would do everything he could for anybody. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally and they all knew how special they were to him.

Lynn had a love for cooking, especially bar-b-que, and Grandpa's hamburgers were a family favorite everyone always looked forward to.  He also had a love for other people's cooking, especially Blue Bell's.

Lynn will be forever missed by so many.

A visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2024 from 9:30 am with a funeral immediately following at 10:30 am at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
