William Oscar Springer, Sr. joined Heaven's Angels August 30, 2019
Born to parents Roy Edward Springer and Fannie Mae Bell Springer on February 3, 1928 in Durant, Oklahoma. His life story is one for ages, filled with adventure, a story book love and honorable inspiration.
W.O. served in the United States Army in Japan as a Paratrooper; or as he would tell it, "jumped out of perfectly good airplanes with his knees shaking."
He met the gorgeous Minnie Louise Fehr in June 1947 on a blind date and was hooked from the beginning. Two months later on August 1, they hunted down a preacher in Gainsville, TX and were wed on their way to W.O.'s new job in Utah Monday morning. He spoke of "His Minnie" with much love and admiration. They were married for 60 beautiful years.
Together, they had three children. The first, a boy, Billy Springer in 1949, then, Lynn Marie Springer, a heavenly angel baby in 1958, followed by Laura Springer in 1961. He was an amazing provider to his children and a cherished and loving father.
In Utah, he worked at Amerada on the seismograph crew in the oil field and finished his career in Bishop, TX at Celanese Chemical Plant after 35 years where he retired as a shift supervisor.
He was an avid gardener, landscaper and observer of birds. He was tender hearted beyond measure, a gentleman and a hard worker, but more than all the "things", he was a God fearing man, a devoted husband and a loving father. His gentle spirit touched everyone he encountered and his life story left a lasting impression.
Although our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in knowing that in God's salvation W.O. has not left us, but has begun his eternal life with God and once again been reunited with his love Minnie.
