William Syvoid Smith, 76, of Spring, TX, went to be with Jesus on October 19, 2016. He graduated from Bunker Hill High School in Mississippi in 1959.  He earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology from North Texas University.

He served 20 years in the United States Navy serving state-side and abroad. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Texas Instruments in Houston and Dallas.  After 23 years at Texas Instruments, his time was devoted to church and family. He enjoyed golf, travel, Southern Gospel music, reading, and Ole Miss Football.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patsy Stuckey Smith; four children, Steven Smith and wife Sharon, David Smith, Karyn Lipsey and husband Les, Patty Henson and husband Erik; grandchildren, Sam Lipsey, Darlene Gander and husband Daniel, DJ Smith, Connor Smith, Rebekah Lipsey, Julia Smith, Ephraim Henson, Liam Henson, Callum Henson, and Levi Henson; great grandchildren, Grace Gander, Anthony Brian, and Joanna Gander; sister, Bertie Zipfel; brothers Schilean Smith and wife Barbara, Louie Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless friends, neighbors and church family.
