William "Bill" Douglas Rock

1941-2017

Lovingly known to his seven grandchildren as Papa. Bill Rock was born in Port Arthur, TX, October 6, 1941.  He passed away June 5, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Wenona Rock and his brother Paul Jr.  He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dolores Joseph Rock; children, Douglas Rock and wife Christine, David Rock and wife Tara, and daughter Elise Leiker.  He adored his grandchildren Collin, Ashlyn, Julia, Kaylyn, Ella, Dana, and Landon.  He is also survived by his sister, Peggy Rock Goodner and husband Jack along with several nieces and nephews.  He graduated from Jones High School in 1959 in Houston, Texas and attended the University of Houston.  Bill's lifelong career was in the petrochemical industry where he was a well-respected draftsman/piping designer. Outside of his career, he served many years on the Grant Rd. P.U.D. Water Board and was a member of the L'Entasar Club. Through the years he enjoyed coaching little league, gardening, cooking out on the grill, and watching his grandchildren's various activities.  His incredible sense of humor, wit, and devotion to his family will be greatly missed.
