William Edgar Parker

September 28, 1930 – October 11, 2019

As the wind blew this year's first cool weather into Houston, Texas, God called William E Parker home lifting his spirit from his human body up to heaven at the age of 89.

"Buddy" was born in Harmon, Louisiana into a Christian family; parents William and Lucy Mae Parker and loving sister Billie. It was in Ville Platte, LA where Buddy met Barbara, only young teens at that time.  Immediately after Buddy's graduation from LSU in 1951, he and Barbara promised God to become life-long partners.  Buddy taught one year at Ville Platte High School where he also was the Basketball Coach and Assistant Football Coach.

Wanting to provide more for his growing family, Buddy began his career in the oil field for Perry R. Bass.  In a few years he went to work for Baroid, a division of N. L. Industries. Beginning as a Mud Engineer in New Orleans, LA, Buddy advanced eventually becoming President of Baroid, and then Vice President of N L. Industries. His first retirement didn't last long when he was called to help a friend and joined Sun Drilling Products as President.  Buddy and Barbara "traveled the world" during their work years. But, in retirement they enjoyed seeing the USA in their RV. So did the grandkids!

Raised in a Christian home, Buddy continued to grow in his faith throughout his life.  He began teaching Sunday School as a young adult. Fortunate in his overseas assignments with Baroid, Buddy and Barbara were able to attend many services in other denominations. As an advocate to spread God's word to the world, Buddy was proud to be a Gideon.

Champion Forest Baptist Church became the family church home in 1978.  There Buddy served the Lord as a deacon, two terms as Chairman of the Finance Committee, and continued teaching Sunday School until his health required him to retire from this cherished opportunity.

Buddy loved his family with all his heart and was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, and friend.  We are eternally grateful for his unconditional love and Godly example.
