William Ronald Mickle was born March 19, 1931 to William Nathan Mickle and Trudie Lee Lancaster in Houston, Texas.  He grew up in the Heights of Houston during the Depression era.  He spent his summers in East Texas with his grandmother on the farm running barefoot with a slingshot in his back pocket, and playing with his cousins.  When he was eleven, he and his mother moved to Juneau, Alaska.  There were many great adventures in store for him in Alaska.  Camping in the mountains with his friend, Harold, learning to play basketball in the "Chicken Yard" which produced a star player for his high school team.  He also worked on a fishing and hunting charter boat.  After returning to the states with the money earned, he was able to pay his tuition to Schreiner Institute in Kerrville, Texas.

After high school he was drafted into the Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Germany.  He loved he was able to play basketball for the Army as well.  He received an Honorable Discharge and was always proud to be an American and proud to display the flag.  He educated himself by attending college at night, and also working during the day where he began his career in the PVF Industry.  In 1968 he opened his own business Stainless Steel Distributors which grew to 13 branch locations.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He served in many leadership callings, but he most enjoyed serving as a Scout Master to the Boy scouts.  He learned many leadership skills serving under President De La Mare as his Executive Secretary.  And his great love was sharing the gospel as a Missionary.  He always took to heart being a good Home Teacher and friend.  He was also a dedicated Temple patron.

He lived a full life, but his greatest accomplishment was his marriage to his Brown Eyes, Deanna of 59 years, and a family he loved with all his heart. He passed on September 16, 2022 at home in Tomball, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Deanna

Once, a ferocious tiger

Scrapping – with wins and falls

These legends sung with fire

One day, tamed within the walls

Fascinated by men of war

Paton, Churchill, and Bradley

O' these tales, never a bore

A brilliant baller on the court

With passion – you passed around

Sky-hooking from port to port

Swish.. Swish…Swish;  a lovely sound

A former hunter in the field

Evolved to a gentler beast

No more weapons to wield

Giving service became the feast

FATHER, you are who you are:

A golden cardinal, so rare

Faithful to all eight fledglings

Devoted to one mate, with care

Now a songbird, chirps and sings

Soar to the heavens, once sent

Never migrate – never depart

Our perineal resident,

Forever reside in our heart

Today, skies may solemn be

But it is not the terminal flight

Promise, somber not are we

Faith, our nest shall re-unite
