Obituary

On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, William "Bill" Patrick Keefe was called to heaven. He was 89 years old.

Bill was born in Tulsa, OK, and was the eldest child to parents William C. Keefe and Frances A. Keefe.  Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jean "B.J." Keefe, his eldest son, William J. Keefe, and his siblings, Richard C. Keefe and Sandra A. Schwarzbach.  Bill is survived by his brother Jerry T. Keefe and wife Carolyn, his children, Michael P. Keefe and wife Tammy, Scott A. Keefe, Patricia M. Dawson and husband Barry, and stepson John D. Greene and wife Margot, and many beloved grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Bill enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 18. He proudly served as a Radar Operator on the USS Mispillion and USS Guadalupe.  Bill was stationed in Sasebo, Japan during the Korean War, and received a commendation from his commander for steering the fleet successfully through a naval minefield.  Bill was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy in 1960.  He thereafter pursued a career in law enforcement, working for the Austin Police Department, South Houston Police Department and the Harris County Sheriff's Office during his 25-year career. He earned an officer of the year award for single handedly apprehending two armed suspects that were holding five officers at gunpoint.

Bill was extremely proud to serve his country and honored to be a Korean War Veteran.  He was never without his U.S. Navy Korean War ball cap or a quick story about his tour of duty or his time in law enforcement.  Bill was a devout Catholic and attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church in Humble, Texas.  Bill was known for a firm handshake and a quick smile.  He was fiercely loyal and dedicated to his daughter Patricia.  He will be missed dearly.
