William Webb Holland (aged 96) was born in Freestone County, Texas, on September 18, 1926, and passed away on September 3, 2023, in Spring, Texas.  He always went by Webb which was his mom's maiden name.

Webb grew up in both Buffalo and Dallas, Texas.  In second grade, he was one of only two students in the school.  His second-grade teacher really liked math so Webb mastered three grade levels of math during that school year.  It wasn't all work though.  Some afternoons, school was let out early so the students and their teacher could go rabbit hunting.

Webb joined the Navy at age seventeen and was a helmsman on an ocean-going tug during WWII.  After serving in the Navy, he attended the University of Texas at Austin on the GI Bill and majored in Petroleum Engineering.  Webb was always appreciative of the opportunities afforded him by the GI Bill.  Webb met his wife, Margret, on a blind date at UT.  After a two year courtship, they were married on September 1, 1951, and were married for over 64 years until Margret's death in 2016.  They had two children, Barbara and Stuart, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.  Webb and Margret were very proud that their children and grandchildren all graduated from college.

After serving as a Petroleum Engineering professor at UT for five years, Webb had a long career in the oil industry, ultimately working for Quintana Petroleum.  His hobbies included playing tennis, golfing, jogging, hunting, fishing, and studying the stock market.  Webb especially enjoyed Longhorn Football and could recall scores back to 1945.  He never turned down the chance to eat cornbread, ice cream, or popcorn.  He liked yardwork and did his own lawn until he was eighty.  Webb and Margret enjoyed traveling and took their children on numerous long road trips.  They visited family and saw sights all over the United States.

Webb was baptized in a pond outside Buffalo, Texas, at age eleven.  As a result of his Christian faith, he was later active in the Methodist Church and served on the Administrative Board and Finance Committee for many years.  He continued his Christian journey throughout his adult life by participating in Bible Studies and attending worship services.

Webb was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Viva Holland; his wife, Margret; and his sister and her husband, Mary Belle and James Rutledge.   He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Nolan; son and daughter-in-law, Stuart and Jan Holland; and grandchildren, Jack Nolan (Laurel), Joe Nolan (Haley), Danielle Kennedy (Trevor), and Mark Holland (Becca).  He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Jack, Dan, and Maeve Nolan, Cora and Jackson Kennedy, and Blaze Holland; and his nephew Tom Rutledge (Susan).

The family would like to publicly thank the staff of The Village at Gleannloch Farms for their compassionate care of Webb during his final years.  Webb's life will be remembered at a family graveside service led by his granddaughter's husband, Trevor Kennedy.
