Glenn Hendrix, 76 of Bandera, Texas passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas at Methodist Hospital with his daughter and sister by his side.  He left this earth wanting to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Glenn was born on October 4, 1949 in Houston, Texas, the son of Horace and Louise (Schwartz) Hendrix.  He was born the night after a big hurricane and he never stopped "Blowing and Going" until the end.  He was baptized on November 20, 1949 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Bellaire, Texas.

As a kid, he worked in the fields for a neighbor picking cantaloupes and watermelons for a penny a piece, and saving his money to buy a motor scooter.  He loved to ride horses and the family would go to the Cypress rodeo on Friday nights, to Tin Hall on Saturday nights, and to Trinity Lutheran Church on Sundays.  He always had calves, pigs and rabbits to take care of, and his bulldog, Buster.

Glenn began his education at Our Savior Lutheran School in Houston and was confirmed in 1963.  He was a graduate of Klein High School, class of 1967.  He entered the Houston Fire Department soon after graduation the same year.  It was said to his parents by one of his chiefs that Glenn was always the first one in the fire.  He loved his job as he spent "41 years, 8 months and 12 days" as a firefighter.  He also loved to cook and was the cook on his shift at most of the stations where he worked.  On his off days, Glenn did carpentry as a side job for many years.  He was involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo cook offs with many of his friends.  Glenn loved to fish and hunt, load bullets, and had a special love for guns, show cars and playing Texas Hold 'Em.  He was quite an outdoorsman and could fix anything.  He loved the ladies----many ladies.  He always wanted to be the life of the party and he was loud and noticeable.

Glenn's life was fulfilled on March 27, 1991 when his daughter, McKenzie Lynn was born. He enjoyed bringing her along to check and feed the cows and haul hay. In the summertime it was a tradition for them to spend a week at Richland Chambers for the annual Houston firefighters lake trip.

He had always loved going to Bandera, Texas where he eventually moved after he retired. In Bandera, his days consisted of spending time at the gun range, reloading bullets, playing poker with friends and working on his cars.

Glenn is survived by his daughter and husband, Mckenzie and Garrett Gumm, his three grandchildren, Braddox, Adelaide and Scotlynn Gumm, and his sister and her companion, Sandra Beil and Joe Towers.

A memorial will be held on April 18th, 2026 at 10 am in Tomball, Texas at the Klein Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held on May 2nd, 2026 at 3 pm in Bandera, Texas at the Bandera Brewery.
