It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of William Randall Cumbess, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and public servant, who departed this life on September 18, 2025, at the age of 67.

Born to Barney Cumbess and Gwendolyn Diane Cumbess, William lived a life marked by integrity, dedication, and love. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, and later continued his life of service with the Houston Police Department, where he committed himself to protecting and serving his community with courage and compassion for 29 years.

William was the devoted husband of Denise Cumbess, and a proud father and grandfather whose family was the center of his life. He was also an avid outdoorsman and lifelong hunter, finding peace and joy in the woods and fields. Whether in the quiet of a deer stand, climbing mountains to find that perfect elk or sharing hunting stories with family and friends, those moments brought him lasting happiness and created memories that his loved ones will always treasure.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Cumbess; his brother, Christopher Cumbess; his three children; his four grandchildren; and his three nephews:
•    His daughter, Ashley Cumbess
•    His daughter, Randi Phelps, her husband Jonathan Phelps, and their daughter Mackenzie Phelps
•    His son, Blaine Cumbess, his wife Brittany Cumbess, and their children: Madelyn Cumbess, Kollins Cumbess, and Beau Cumbess
•    His brother, Christopher Cumbess, and his wife Lisa Cumbess
•    His nephews: Samuel Cumbess, Brock Norris, and Thomas Cumbess

To all who knew him, William was a man of quiet strength, deep loyalty, and enduring kindness. His legacy of service, love for his family, passion for the outdoors, and steadfast character will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
