Obituary

William Andrew "Drew" Copley was born in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Dallas by his parents Ed and Helen Copley.   He was the youngest of three and enjoyed family vacations, especially the ski trips to colorado where he was a daredevil on the slopes.   His early fascination with computers led him to become a self taught expert in the security industry.   When he met his wife Dee they became best friends before embarking on a 24 year adventure. Drew was a family man who adored his wife and four children, Alex, Cassie, Michael, and Lily.   He was quiet and complex.   He loved reading, playing video games, watching superhero movies with the family, and playing with the family pets.   But also enjoyed the challenges that came with computer security technology.    He was a charter member of an elite team that led the world in finding critical security vulnerabilities.   His publicized findings are being used by multiple government agencies. Drew was also a courageous man with a strong spirit who fought to overcome life's obstacles head on.   He had a kind heart and a deep desire to make a difference in the world.   Stories have emerged since his passing from those who were unable to find assistance in difficult times, where Drew stepped in to help.  He was a beloved husband, father, son, brother, co-worker and friend who will be missed by us all.   He lives on in our hearts and watches over us until we can see him again. Drew is survived by his devoted wife Dee, father Ed Copley and his wife Connie, his children Alexandra and husband Tony Franco, Cassandra,  Michael, and Lily Copley, grand-daughter Parker Franco, sister Julie and husband Terry Thomas,  brother Ward and wife Cheri Copley, his nephews Edward and Owen Copley, aunt Patricia Copley, sister in law Frances Sharp and family, stepsister Kelly Givens and family, and stepbrother Zeke Patterson. Drew was preceded in death by his mother Helen Copley, his paternal grandparents Edward and Ethel Copley, and his maternal grandparents Floyd and Gladys Fason. The family would like to thank staff at M.D. Andersen for their compassionate care. If you wish to honor Drew's life, please consider donating to M.D. Anderson Pancreatic Cancer Research.
