William Jack Bushfield, known affectionately to friends as "Bush" and to those lucky enough to receive one of his legendary embraces as "Bear Tracks," passed away February 11, 2026, surrounded by the family he loved so deeply. A man of immense kindness, boundless curiosity, and old-school chivalry, Bill gave far more to this world than he ever took from it.

Born in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Jack and Ruth Bushfield, Bill was a man whose spirit could not be contained by a single zip code. While he spent the majority of his life in Houston, Texas, his career in Tubular Sales with Hydril took him to the far corners of the globe, with chapters of his life written in Singapore, Jakarta, and Angola, Africa. Before embarking on his global career, he spent a year shaping young minds as a high school biology teacher in New York, a testament to his lifelong respect for all living things.

Bill lived by a simple, profound philosophy: "To me, a stranger is just a story I haven't heard and a friend I haven't made."

To meet Bill was to be the center of his attention. He possessed a humor reminiscent of Jonathan Winters quick, joyful, and infectious. But it was his gentleness that truly defined him.

He was a man of rare chivalry in a modern world; he never failed to hold a door open, and he always removed his hat when greeting a stranger. He loved the game of golf, but he loved sitting down and listening to a person's story even more. In Bill's eyes, everyone was equal, and everyone was worthy of respect.

He leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jean Bergstrom; his sister, Anne Townsand, and brother-in-law, Denny Townsand; and his beloved sons, Arin, Faisal, Adam, and Ryan. He was a cherished father-in-law to Lydia, Lezlee, Haiyan, Jennifer, and Nora.

His spirit lives on in his grandchildren: Azreena, Nabil, Mirza, Nabila, Armond, Ariane, Arden, Seth, Audree, Joseph, Lerin, and Illyas; his great-grandchildren: Ayra, Aryan, and Aydeen; and his nephews, Jeff and David Townsand.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Ruth Bushfield; his first wife, Fatimah Bushfield; and his second wife, Jacque Anderson. They are undoubtedly waiting to welcome him home.

A public Celebration of Life will be held to honor Bill's memory February 20 10:00am at Klein Funeral Home 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX 77375.

Bill Bushfield never said a casual goodbye, he said goodbye with a bear hug that made you feel safe and loved.

He will be deeply missed, but the stories he collected and the friends he made will ensure he is never forgotten.
