He married his wife, Corrine Cartwright, whom preceded him in death, in Kansas City, Missouri on June 4, 1954.  They eventually retired to Hertford, North Carolina where they designed and built their dream house and Bill enjoyed his hobbies of golfing, playing bridge, reading and fixing anything that needed repair or improvement.   He was a member of the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.
