DAD'S OBITUARY
Bill Nixon, 67, passed away unexpectedly at his home on September 10, 2022. Bill was born on December 17, 1954 to Paul and Ruth Nixon in Des Moines, Iowa.
After graduating from Oak Hill Park High school in 1973, he went on to pursue his passion of aviation at Central Missouri State. While in college he met his beautiful wife of 43 years, Hazel. They were married April 1979 and went on to have 2 children Nikolas and Blake. Bill was a wonderful and devoted husband, Dad and grandfather.
After graduating with a degree in Aviation and Marketing, Bill got his first job with Scheduled Skyways as a First Officer flying the Metroliner. This kickstarted an amazing aviation career. He spent 35 years at Continental/United Airlines flying the Boeing 727,737,757,767,777 and retiring on the 787. Bill retired from United Airlines in December 2019, captaining his last flight on the Boeing 787 from Houston, Texas to Sydney, Australia.
Bill had a lifelong love for travel; Taking his family all over the world. He enjoyed yearly ski trips, diving with the United Dive club and many Kayaking trips with th Houston Kayak club.After retirement he enjoyed spending lots of time with his new grandson Lukas. He was even able to share his love of flying with Lukas taking him flying when he was 1 year old! Bill also enjoyed spending his time volunteering at Serenity Retreat and at Church. He was very active within his church and it showed through his teachings and devotion.
Bill was predeceased by his son, Blake. He is survived by his wife Hazel, son Nikolas, his grandson Lukas and daughter-in-law Sarah.
A time of visitation will be held from 9-10 am on Saturday, September 17, 2022 with the funeral service to begin at 10 am at the Klein Funeral Home Magnolia. Burial will follow at the Klein Memorial Park on 249 in Pinehurst.
