Wilbur Junior Baker

March 12, 1935 – January 28, 2022

Wilbur "Junior" Baker was born March 12, 1935, in Alexandria City, Alabama and passed away at the age of 86 in his home at Avanti Assisted Living in Spring, TX.

Junior served in the United States Army as a Medical Specialist from April 1958 to April 1960. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves until April 1964. Corporal Baker received a medal for Good Conduct, along with Sharpshooter badges in both Carbine and Sub Machine Guns. At one point he was stationed in Friedberg, Germany, which is where he peeled potatoes right next to none other than Elvis Presley himself.

Junior Baker married his wife Beulah, prior to joining the Army, and after his service, he and Beulah moved to Tomball, Texas in 1969. He went to work as Store Manager at Wilson's grocery store in 1970 and lived in Cripple Creek Farms with his wife and two daughters, Doris, and Deborah. Junior went to work in the Department of Public Works & Engineering for the City of Houston in the early 70's as a sign inspector. He received several commendations during his time there and was voted "Best Supervisor" in 1994.

Junior eventually retired from the City of Houston, but just couldn't quite sit still, so he went to work at Tomball mini storage on the weekends. After his wife, Beulah's passing in 2000, he moved into Westbourne subdivision, where eventually he met Monique and her two daughters, Maisie and Abbey. Monique introduced Junior to her Mother, Maxine Reed Washington, and it wasn't long before he and Maxine were calling each other "honey" and the two were married on September 9, 2002.

Junior Baker was quick to fit in and adored by Maxine's huge family, both in Texas and Oklahoma. In fact, he had to make several road trips to Oklahoma just to keep a promise he made to Maxine's mother, Nora, that he would not keep her away from her Okie family too long at a time. Junior didn't mind, as he was always up for a road trip and was happily welcomed by all his new sibling-in-laws.

Junior and Maxine were happily married for almost 20 years and spent the majority of their life together in their beloved Tomball home. In March of 2020, Junior and Maxine set out for a new adventure down South near Robstown, Texas, where they spent the next 22 months, and had tons of fun enjoying the farm life at the Osborne Ranch. Due to health reasons, the couple moved to Spring, Texas, where they quickly made new friends and were adored by both residents and staff at Avanti Augusta Pines. Maxine and Junior were just settling into their new home and loving it there when our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called Junior home on January 28, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and Beulah, and survived by wife, Maxine Baker, daughters;

Caroline Doris Dillard (Charlie) and Deborah Cotton (Jerry), stepchildren; Deann Drummond (JC Wright), Lesa Osborne (Gary), Monique Lee, David Washington, Sean Washington, and Troy Evans, grandchildren; Kristi, Keith, Heath, Ashley, Aaron, Patrick, John, Jamie, Jace, Maisie, Abbey, D.J., Krystynn, Kirsten, Lorryn, Dylan, Momo, Kaisey, and T4, nieces; Maynette, Kim, and Diane, Nephew: David, as well as many great-grandchildren.
