Westin Wade Wendt was born on December 31, 1983, to Vickie and Wade Wendt in Dallas, Texas. On January 4th, 2026, Westin was called Home at Memorial Hermann Hospital with his wife Leigh by his side after a courageous multi-year battle with autoimmune encephalitis. He is a dearly beloved father, husband, son, brother, and friend whom we will miss more than words can express.

Westin had a vibrant soul, and the light he brought to the lives of those who knew him is irreplaceable. He sought laughs that left himself and those around him breathless, good dancing music, delicious food and meaningful connection. Spending most of his life in the greater Houston area, Westin fostered deep relationships within his community and made a profound impact on the lives of many. He encouraged loved ones to pursue the best version of themselves in every way - prioritizing wellness, pursuing joy, and following their moral compass.

Westin was extremely intelligent; he loved thoughtful conversation and indulging his curiosity through rabbit holes of research. He attended The University of Texas at Austin, where he graduated with a degree in Biomedical Engineering in 2006 as a member of the program's inaugural class. He explored various areas of the medical industry throughout his career including designing hospitals, site consulting, device sales and more.

Westin's interests were diverse, but his greatest passion was his beautiful family. Westin and Leigh married in 2015, before bringing Wyatt into the world in January 2017 and Willa in December 2018. Aside from being a nurturing father and devoted husband, Westin loved trivia, cooking, and physical fitness. Throughout his childhood and teenage years, he was a talented swimmer for the Huntwick Patriots and later, the Cypress Creek Cougars. In recent summers, he supported Wyatt and Willa on the Gleanloch Gators swim team as a volunteer and their biggest cheerleader. Westin was also an Eagle Scout, earning badges alongside his best friends with the steadfast support of his parents.

Westin is survived by his wife Leigh Wendt, children Wyatt and Willa Wendt, parents Vickie and Wade Wendt, sisters Haylie (husband Drew) Addison and Kendall Wendt, and grandmother Diane Brodbeck. He is preceded in death by his grandparents William Wendt, Doris Wendt, and Jerry Brodbeck.

A memorial service honoring Westin's life will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 20th, at the Faithbridge chapel in Spring, Texas. We encourage attendees to wear shades of blue in his honor. The event will also be live streamed and recorded for those who cannot attend in person.
