Wesley James "Jim" Hammer, 82, of Spring, joined the choir invisible on September 18, 2016. Following a successful career in the oil industry, Jim, a rare native Houstonian worked tirelessly toward improving his community, serving as the founder and President of the Greater Houston EMS Council. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Sanderlin Hammer, parents, and youngest daughter, Carol Lynn Hammer and is survived by his daughters Jamie Hammer-Quiroga and Lisa Ullrich. He also leaves grandchildren: Kara Hill, Lindsey Barra, Toni Johnson, and Brandon Ullrich, James, Elizabeth, and Brianne Quiroga, six great-grandchildren, and many cousins, nephews, nieces, and admirers. In the spirit of all things Jim embodied to those who knew him, he simply asks that you "lettuce spray."
