Werner Albert Godosar, of Cypress, TX, passed away on August 15, 2023, after battling a long illness. He was 85 years old.
Werner was born on March 16, 1938, in Grünberg Germany, but considered himself a "Leeve Jung" having grown up in Cologne, Germany. Werner immigrated to the United States in 1959 and became a very proud US citizen after he was naturalized in 1988.
Upon arriving in the United States, Werner proudly worked as a dishwasher at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City. Eventually he started his career, working in the mail room, with Lufthansa Airlines NYC, but was quickly promoted to a sales position. Soon thereafter, he transferred to their Chicago office. Werner began working for Minolta Business Systems, in California, and was eventually transferred to Houston to open a new branch office. Werner spent 23 years with Minolta serving as their Branch General Manager.
Werner will be remembered best for his ability to bring people together, gathered around the table, filling them with delicious food and flavorful wine. All who knew Werner loved his infectious personality and his ability to command a presence when he entered the room. Werner would be considered a modern-day Renaissance Man, as he had a lifelong quest for knowledge and a passion for sharing it with others. A little-known fact about Werner, his love for classical music began by his mother singing opera to him as a child which led him to learn to play the violin.
Werner is preceded in death by his parents August & Anna Godosar, brothers Theo, Erhard, Robert, and Hans, sister Renata, and son Roy. Werner is survived by his wife of 31 years, Brenda Godosar, his son Randall, and granddaughter Marga.
Private services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
