Wayne Edward Telling
July 10, 1931 – March 24, 2022
Wayne Edward Telling was born July 10, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, Herbert and Ethel Telling, and was called home by our Lord on March 24, 2022. Wayne grew up in Bratenahl, Ohio where he graduated from Shaw High School and throughout his lifetime, he kept up with many classmates. He then attended Kent State University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. This is also where he met and married the love of his life, Marlene Hallock, in 1955.
Wayne worked in sales for Osborn Manufacturing, Western Gear Corporation, and CB Gear & Machine where he was well known in the gear industry. He was a member of Klein United Methodist Church, a Mason, and a Shriner. He had a generous heart and a passion for pouring into the lives of others with his time and talents. He served in many ways during his lifetime and especially enjoyed his rodeo participation, where he was a Life Member of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and also served on the HLSR Ticket Sales Committee.
In his free time, some of his favorite hobbies were deep sea fishing, long walks on the beach, reading, telling stories, and meeting new people. He especially enjoyed traveling and had a passion for cars…race cars, classic cars, and fast cars.
Wayne proudly served his country in the United States Army and was a Korean War Veteran. On June 15, 2019, Wayne traveled to Korea with Korean War Veterans and participated in the Korean War Veterans Appreciation Event for Peace which commemorated the 69th Anniversary of the Korean War. He served as the First Vice President of the Texas Lone Star Chapter of Korean War Veterans from 2020 – 2022.
