Wanda Jo Melrose Jones – of
Houston, Texas.
Born on March 12, 1941, and passed away on February 19, 2021. Daughter of Chester and Nellie Melrose and sister to Bette Melrose Titus and Gary Don Melrose. Wanda was born and raised in Oklahoma City, and she graduated high school at Capitol Hill. She met her husband Thomas Wayne Jones on a blind date set up by mutual friends. After a year of dating, they married in 1964 and began their 57 - year journey together.
Wanda and Tom grew their family with the birth of their son Phillip Jones in 1971 and later had a daughter Pamela Jones in 1974. After living in many locations in Oklahoma and Texas, they settled in Houston, Texas. She was a loving and devoted mom and attended every one of her kid's school activities, including football and volleyball games and Brownies. She was a proud mother-in-law to Tracy Johnson Jones, and the highlight of her life was her grandchildren, Caitlin Jones Williamson and Carli Jones. They had many sleepovers that included crafts, watching Home Alone, and playing endless hours of Monopoly. She was incredibly proud to watch Carli excel on the softball field and watched hundreds of games from the stands cheering her on. She recently received the news she was about to be a great-grandma to Caitlin and Seth Williamson's baby girl Myla.
Wanda's past times were crafts, fantasy football, books, and watching movies. Her passion was her love of her dogs, and she was happiest when she was traveling the world with her husband.
Wanda is survived by her husband Thomas, son Phillip and wife Tracy, daughter Pamela, grandchildren Caitlin, and her husband, Seth, and Carli. Brother Gary Don. nieces and nephews Deana, Karen, Steven, Chris, and other extended family. Wanda suffered from a long battle with Dementia.
