Wanda Ruth Campbell, born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina on May 11, 1935, peacefully passed away in her home in Houston, on May 19, 2026. Wanda had recently celebrated her 91st birthday surrounded by the love and memories of a life well lived.
Wanda was a devoted and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She married Travis Campbell in Houston in May of 1953, and together they shared a fulfilling and joyful journey of love, family, business, and travel that spanned 64 wonderful years before Travis's passing in May of 2017.
Wanda was a lover of all things beautiful and a devoted follower of Jesus Christ. She instilled in her family a love of God, art, and music. Wanda was an artist herself, creating many beautiful paintings that her family cherishes today and will continue to treasure for years to come. She also possessed a natural gift for music and enjoyed playing several instruments, though she especially loved playing the piano.
Wanda was a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She possessed an inherent and endearing grace that was appreciated by all who encountered her. She loved her family and pets fiercely and was a natural nurturer, as well as a valiant confidante and trusted advisor. The wisdom, guidance, and love she shared will remain a lasting legacy carried on by her family.
Wanda also had a remarkable flair for fashion and always dressed beautifully for every occasion, from square dancing to weddings and family gatherings. With her big, bright blue eyes, warm smile, and expertly coiffed hair, she was always a vision. Whether traveling across the country in her RV or hosting loved ones in her home, Wanda carried herself with effortless elegance and grace.
Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nona Hambley; her beloved mother- and father-in-law, Carlton and Addie Campbell; her husband, Travis Dell Campbell; her grandson, Matthew Phillip Villars; her brothers, Darrell Hambley and George Hambley (Dorothy); her nephew, Richard Church; her sister, Delores Parker; and her beloved brother- and sister-in-law, Carolyn and Charles Daigle.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Adell Campbell; Brett Norman Campbell (Ruth); Krista Lei Villars (Patrick); and Troy Dwayne Campbell (Mary).
Wanda is also survived by her grandchildren, Stuart Campbell, Trisha Campbell, Melissa Bankston (Russell), Wayne Villars (Casey), Jacqueline Chase (James), Kevin Campbell, Travis Campbell, Caylin Campbell-Wooten (Paul), Taryn Campbell, and Michael Campbell.
She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Vickie Rogers and Wendy Clifford.
She is further survived by her great-grandchildren, Develyn Villars; Aaron and Avery Campbell; Emily Wooten; Cordelia and Cassian Chase; Rylee, Avery, and Luke Villars; and Chloe, Gage, Annabella, and Sophia Bankston.
Though her family grieves her absence deeply, they rejoice in the peace of knowing Wanda is reunited with loved ones gone before her and resting in the presence of her Savior.
