Wallace Bassett Cobb

Born June 6, 1931

Heavenly Arrival April 1, 2017

Age 85 years

Preceded in death by wife Juanita and parents Ross Wraymond & Emma Sayers Cobb.

Wally was born & raised in Dallas, graduating from Sunset High School. After a year of working for Bell Telephone, he headed to Howard Payne University where he met the love of his life, Juanita Payne, during student orientation. They married in 1951 and continued their love affair/life partnership for 59 years.

Wally was licensed to preach the Gospel in 1950, and ordained a Baptist minister in 1953. From pastoring small churches while still in college to being a youth, music, education and pastoral care minister, he served his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in churches across Texas, New Mexico and Tennessee. Foreign mission trips, holding various state and local Baptist association positions, serving on the board of trustees of Howard Payne and being a reliable blood donor were also cherished opportunities he had to serve.

In 1973 Wally was called to a small, new church in the 1960 area of NW Harris County, Champion Forest Baptist. From 1973-1976, and from 1981-2004, he served in various capacities at CFBC for 26 years until his official retirement, but he continued his lifelong calling to minister and serve until the day his Lord called him home.

Wally and Juanita raised, nurtured and loved their three children, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild with the same unconditional, devoted love that our Heavenly Father offers to each of us. Selfless and tireless, Wally was a man after God's own heart.

Well done thy good & faithful servant.
