Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Virginia "Ginny" Turanski, age 78 on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in Houston, Texas.  Born in Jersey City, New Jersey on July 1, 1942 to Joseph and Marie Griffin.  Mother to three children, son Frank and wife Joanne; son Joseph and wife Dawn; and daughter Janine.  Proud "Nanny" to Ian, Jake, Alex, Olivia, Zachary, and Stephen.  She is survived by her loving sister Judy Chaplan, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The way she died is the way she lived, by her own rules. Much like Frank Sinatra sang, "she did it her way".  Some may have thought her to be stubborn, but for those who knew and loved her understood her to be a proud and courageous woman.

Ginny loved to paint, travel and people watch.  A New Jersey girl at heart, she loved to walk along the beach in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.  Ginny was a voracious college football fan.  Spending Fall Saturday morning's waiting to see which headgear "Coach" would choose for that day's College Game Day show.  Then she would get ready to watch her favorite teams the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Sooners of the University of Oklahoma. On Sunday's, it would be the New York Giants that she couldn't wait to watch. She also enjoyed dogs, especially St. Bernards. She visited her grand dogs often. Ginny was a school bus driver for nearly 30 years and retired to live in Houston, Texas.

Ginny chose to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held later.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St Jude's Research Hospital.
