On Tuesday, March 2, 2021, Virginia "Ginger" Ruth (Ward) Poynor of Spring, TX and loving mother of two children, passed away at age 77.
Ginger was adopted by her parents, Morris Seldon "Jack" Ward and Fannie Lou (Webb) Ward on May 21, 1943 in San Antonio, TX. She grew up in Corpus Christi, TX where she attended W.B. Ray High School and met the love of her life and husband of 31 years Ernest Alvin "EA" Poynor. The two married in 1962 and raised a daughter, Hope and a son, Jack.
Ginger enjoyed spending time with her family at home or on the family ranch. She had a real green thumb and a passion for sewing, arts and crafts, tennis, traveling both domestically and abroad as well as sports. In particular she loved NASCAR, baseball and football and was a big fan of the Houston Astros, the "old" Houston Oilers and Texas A&M football.
Ginger was preceded in death by her parents "Jack" and Fannie Lou and her husband EA. She is survived by her children Hope Ward (Poynor) Middleton and her husband Bruce Middleton and Jack Ward Poynor and his wife Laura K. Poynor; Grandchildren Holly (Middleton) Stern and her husband Samson Stern, Trevor Poynor and Taylor Poynor.
A private memorial service for the immediate family will be held at Seaside Funeral Home & Memorial Park in Corpus Christi at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital at:
