Virginia Del Hammonds, affectionately known by her friends and family as "Cissy," passed away on January 12, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 24, 1941, in Corpus Christi, Texas, Cissy was the beloved daughter of Virginia Campbell Love and James Albert Love.
Cissy was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Jimmy Love. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion, survived by her husband of 58 years, John Hammonds Jr., her son John Hammonds III, her daughter Catherine Copeland, and her son-in-law Kenny Copeland. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kathy Champney, brother-in-law Bob Champney, and her three adored granddaughters, Hayley Henningsen, Megan Hammonds, and Jacey Copeland.
Cissy was a remarkable woman, known for her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, an avid tennis player, and a successful businesswoman. Her compassionate nature and generous heart touched everyone who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.
Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories made and the influence Cissy inspired, carrying her legacy of love and kindness forward. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A celebration of Cissy's life will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, January 19 at the Klein Funeral Home Chapel, 16131 Champion Forest Drive, Klein, TX 77379.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Beyond Bridges ( www.hopebeyondbridges.org ), a cause close to Cissy's heart.
