Violet Lieder Jones, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, with family by her side. She was 97 years old.

Violet Dean was born on November 15, 1928, in Houston, Texas, to Joseph Luster Worsham and Arella Gregg Worsham. On November 23, 1946, she married the love of her life, Victor Allen Lieder, and together they raised five children. Following Victor's passing, she later married Albert C. Jones, and they shared companionship until his passing.

Family was at the heart of Violet's life. She was a devoted mother and proud grandmother who cherished watching her family grow through the generations. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.

Violet enjoyed the simple things in life—gardening, canning vegetables, feeding and watching wildlife, country western dancing, and old movies. Above all, she enjoyed being with her family and sharing life's everyday moments with them.

Violet is survived by her five children: Wade A. Lieder of Katy, Texas; Victoria A. Muzny of Anderson, Texas; Arlene G. Fritsche of Magnolia, Texas; Laura L. Wiggins of Somerville, Texas; and Nina E. Rice and her husband, Darrell, of Iola, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Joyce and her husband, Lacy, of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Luster Worsham and Arella Gregg Worsham; her husbands, Victor Allen Lieder and Albert C. Jones; her sister, Katherine E. Cowart; her sons-in-law, Jerry W. Muzny and Roy G. Wiggins; and her grandson, John Joseph Stansbury Jr.

Violet will be remembered most for the love she held for her family. Her greatest legacy is the large family she leaves behind and the love, memories, and traditions she passed from one generation to the next.

Rest peacefully. You will be forever loved, forever missed, and always remembered.

Memorial Service

Violet's family will honor her memory with a private memorial gathering for immediate family only. The family will come together to celebrate her life, share memories, and remember the special woman she was.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Violet's name to support Alzheimer's or dementia research.
