Obituary

Viola Markert, age 83, passed away peacefully May 14, 2019 from congestive heart failure. Viola was born on March 5, 1936 to Hermine Martha Schulze and Edwin Albert Schulz in a small community near Giddings, Texas.

She was received into St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on March 8, 1936, by Pastor Herman Schmidt. She was confirmed in the Christian faith on April 10, 1949 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas by Pastor Arthur Arndt. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 37:5 - "Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass".  Viola married her lifetime love, Feriss Leon Markert on April 17, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas. They raised two daughters, Deborah Markert Streetman and Sherry Markert Mankin. Viola was a homemaker and a dedicated wife and mother to her family. She loved and treasured her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, collecting angels, shopping at Walmart, and making jewelry at her assisted living home.

Viola was preceded in death by her loving husband, her parents, one brother, and two sisters. She is survived by her proud and loving family:

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 15235 Spring Cypress Rd; Cypress, TX 77429. Visitation with family will be Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 5:00-7:00 pm at Klein Funeral Home Cy-Fair; 9719 Wortham Blvd; Houston, TX 77065.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, May 17, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. John Lutheran Church, 15235 Spring Cypress Rd; Cypress, TX 77429. Graveside service immediately following at Memorial Oaks Cemetery; Houston, TX.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Atria Senior Living Cy-Fair and Grace Hospice of Texas for their care, support and comfort during Mom's illness.
