Obituary

THE WOODLANDS – Victor Allen Smith "Vic", 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 24, 2025 in The Woodlands, Texas.

Vic was born on November 12, 1937, in Marmet, West Virginia, to James I. and Margaret (Morris) Smith. The family moved to Groves, Texas, where Vic spent his childhood and high school years.

On December 19, 1959, Vic married the love of his life, Shannon McEachern, in Beaumont, Texas. They shared 55 wonderful years together until her passing in 2014 in Granbury, Texas.

Vic was a proud graduate of Lamar University. He later earned his MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He began his career with General Electric, but his long career with Union Carbide took him and his family across the country, including a memorable assignment in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He retired while residing in Kingman, Arizona.

A lifelong student of history, Vic had a deep passion for genealogy and historical preservation. In Granbury, he served on the Board of the Hood County Historical Commission. He was also an active member of the Sons of the American Revolution, serving as President of the Brazos Chapter. Friends will also remember him for his love of golf; a pastime he enjoyed until an injury kept him from the game.

Vic and Shannon shared a spirit of adventure and a love of travel. Among their most treasured memories were three years spent living in an RV, exploring America and Canada. They later chose Granbury as their home in retirement.

Vic is lovingly remembered by his sister, Sue Steen of Port Arthur, TX; daughter, Stacey (Mike) Brunn of New Caney, TX; son, Allen (Alisa) Smith of Lake Mills, WI; grandchildren Shannon Marie (Matt) Brangan of Tomball, TX, Chase (Megan) Brunn of Clarksville, TN, Nick Smith of Milwaukee, WI and Sarah Smith of Milwaukee, WI; and great-granddaughter Amelia Brangan. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, James I. Smith, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 13, 2025 at Klein Funeral Home – Tomball, 1400 West Main, Tomball, Texas 77375, with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. A private burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Vic's memory to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, honoring Shannon's legacy. ( www.theaftd.org .)
