Vestine Sherwood Walther, Sr. was born on February 16, 1943, in La Grange, Texas to Albert and Alma (Zoch) Walther of Warda, TX.

On October 28, 1967, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Gloria Steglich.  Vestine and Gloria had two kids, Vestine "Ves" Sherwood Walther, Jr. and Becky Marie (Walther) Peno.

Vestine was a lifelong framing carpenter.  Vestine, also known as Pops or Paw Paw to his grandkids, enjoyed time with his family, especially a game or two of dominoes.  He also enjoyed watching the Houston Astros and spending time on his tractor at his childhood farm, in Warda, TX.

Vestine passed away the evening of Saturday, October 1, 2022 at Methodist Willowbrook Hospital in Houston.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert & Alma Walther, his sisters: Edith (Walther) Zoch, Ruth (Walther) Mittasch, his brothers, William, Curtis, Johnnie, Elwood and Franklin Walther.

Vestine is survived by his wife of 54 years, Gloria Walther of Houston,    son, Ves Walther and his wife Jill; daughter, Becky (Walther) Peno and her husband, Robbie; 3 Grandchildren Trent & Cole Walther and Jordan Peno;

Memorial Service for Vestine Sherwood Walther, Sr., 79 of Houston, Texas is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at St. John Lutheran Church, located at 15235 Spring Cypress Road, in Cypress.  Visitation with the family will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the Memorial Service.
