Veronica Malveaux Brown was born March 21, 1946 in Opelousas, Louisiana and was called home to the Lord on August 8, 2024 in Houston, TX. She was affectionately known as Veronica to her friends and colleagues, Aunt Choe to her many nieces and nephews, Choe to her siblings, Ma-Ma to her grandchildren, and Mom to her three children.

Veronica attended Plaisance High School (grades 1-12) and graduated as valedictorian in the class of 1964. She attended Southern University in Baton Rouge and earned a Bachelor's degree. Thereafter, she moved to New York City to begin a career as a nutritionist working in major health facilities such as Montefiore Hospital in the Bronx, NY and Burke Rehabilitation Hospital in White Plains, NY. She met and married her husband, Errol Brown in 1968 and they started their family before Veronica achieved a Master's degree from Hunter College. From there she became a registered dietician and moved to the suburb of Valley Cottage, NY to raise her family. In 1991, Veronica moved to Spring, Texas where she resided until her passing.

Through many years of work helping others achieve better nutrition through both private consulting and working as a public servant, she retired as the Director of the Houston Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) Program. In addition to her career, Veronica continued to show her commitment and heart for helping others by volunteering for several organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Northwest Assistance Ministries, the Plaisance Community Foundation of Houston, TX, and the March of Dimes.

Veronica was preceded in death by her parents: Thomas Malveaux and Beatrice Collins Malveaux; her husband: Errol Brown; siblings: Raymond Malveaux (Mary Jean), Mildred Lazard, Wilda Francis (Jules), Patrick Malveaux, Bernard Malveaux (Emma), Madar Dean Malveaux, and Caffa Mae Malveaux; and brother-in-law: Andrew Rose. She is survived by her sister: Winnie Jean Malveaux, her three children: Errol Brown (Leigh), Alanna Brown McCargo (Jay), and Jennifer Elise Brown; six grandchildren: Gerrad Anthony Brown, Alexandra McCargo, Jay-Jay McCargo, Aiden Christopher Brown, Quentin Jay Brown, and Isaiah Stephen Brown; brother-in-law Anthony Rose; sister-in-law Patricia Reece; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Veronica valued family and God. She was a positive light who touched the lives of so many people. She leaves a legacy of love and service and her family will forever carry her in their hearts.
