Vernon "Ted" Mills, age 60, was born on July 9th, 1965, to Stanley and Wanda Mills in Houston, Texas.  The family moved from Houston to California when he was young, then permanently back to Houston as a teenager.

During Ted's younger years, he enjoyed camping and fishing with his older brothers, Charlie and Raymond, and his parents, on their family boat.  They spent many weekends in the Sacramento Delta.

Ted graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1984.  As a teenager and young adult, he loved playing football and basketball.  He was a dedicated Dallas Cowboys fan, win or lose, and an avid Nascar fan.

Ted was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the young age of seven.  This never stopped him from living life to the fullest.  As a young adult in the 80's, he loved clubbing and dancing to all hours of the night, going to the beach, or playing video games, with his buddies who he remained friends with throughout his entire adult life.  His heart was full of life and love for everyone.  He lived by the motto "the day I don't stay positive, and stop acting like a big kid, is the day being sick will get to me".

Ted and his wife, Melanie, were married for 31 wonderful years, and have one beautiful daughter, Marissa Mills, two fur babies, Ruby and Lola, along with Marissa's best friends who consider themselves his adopted daughters.  Ted loved his wife, Melanie, and daughter, Marissa, with all his heart and was always happy so long as they were near.

He absolutely loved watching Marissa play soccer and was so proud of her.  He enjoyed entertaining her friends.  Being the big kid and jokester that he was, he always had something to say to make them laugh.

His favorite hobbies were watching football and Nascar, working in the yard, cooking, and playing with Ruby and Lola. His favorite vacation spot was Vegas where he loved to play slots and see the shows.

Before retiring at the time he started dialysis, he worked for Advanced Office Systems and Record Storage for 30 years. This is where he built life-long friendships.  The team at Advanced were truly his family.

Those left to cherish his memories are his wife Melanie, daughter Marissa Mills, brother Raymond Stafford, sisters-in-law Cathy Stafford, Veronica Gutierrez, and Angela Mason, brothers-in-law Kevin Mason and Kevin Duff, best friend of 45 years Tim Carlson, "adopted" daughters Destini Mezomo and Alyla Sturney, and multiple nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

After a courageous battle, Ted went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026.  Ted's legacy of laughter, loyalty, and love will be carried on by those who knew, loved, and adored him.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 16th, at Klein Tomball, 1400 West Main, Tomball, TX 77375:  Visitation - Friends and Family Gathering:  1:00 pm to 2:00 pm.  Funeral Services:  2:00 pm. Graveside:  Klein Memorial Park Tomball, 32539 SH 249, Pinehurst, TX 77362.

The family has requested that in honor of Ted's legacy to please wear The Cowboy's football team's jersey or blue, white and silver colors.
