Obituary

Verna Theresa (Folse) Strickland was born in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana on August 14, 1929 to C.P. and Amelie (Landry) Folse. Verna passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 12, 2020 after a full life of just over 91 years. Verna was the valedictorian of her high school class and obtained a bachelor's degree in Education from Loyola University in New Orleans.
Verna had faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His sinless life, substitutionary death and miraculous resurrection from the dead. As a result of her faith in Jesus and his finished work on the cross, (John 3:16 and Romans 10:8-10) the passing of her earthly body immediately ushered her directly (2 Corinthians 5:8) into the presence of Jesus her Creator to remain with Him for eternity. Verna no doubt earned many heavenly rewards for her selfless and others focused mindset she displayed during her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her 8 brothers/sisters and her husband (Milton) of 46 years. She is survived by three sons, two daughters-in-law and 8 grandchildren.
Verna was a faithful wife to Milton and a loving mother to her sons. Verna attended hundreds of her son's baseball practices and ballgames over many years of their involvement in the sport along with accompanying her family to many Houston Astros games where she was a huge fan.
Verna was also a master cook at home and specialized in cooking amazing Cajun recipes that she learned from her mother growing up in Louisiana. She left a legacy as a 3rd and 4th grade teacher in both Louisiana and at Lamar Elementary School in The Woodlands, Texas. She is greatly missed by her family, her friends and all who knew her well but for each and every one that Verna leaves behind that have the same strong faith in Jesus and His finished work on the cross Verna would want you to know that we will see her again in glory !
On December 17th, 2020, Verna was laid to rest beside her husband Milton in the Klein Memorial Park Cemetery located at 14711 FM-1488 near Magnolia, TX where visitors to the gravesite are welcome.
