Verla De Nelson passed away following a short illness on November 13, 2022 in Spring, Texas. Born on July 10, 1949, she was the first daughter of Sheldon and Delores (Bernadot) Penrod.

Affectionately known as DeDe, Verla De grew up in Provo, Utah with her brothers Gordon and Kim, and sisters Gina and Shellie. Their brother Gary died in infancy. She was very close to her grandparents in her youth, especially Grandma Penrod, and was an excellent tap-dancer. She loved being active and playing with friends. After graduating from Provo High School, she married Michael Hindmarsh and they were blessed with three sons: Todd, Travis, and Tyler.

Verla De attended beauty school in Provo and always had a beauty salon wherever she lived the rest of her life, whether in Utah, Arizona or Texas. She also worked as a medical secretary at the Mayo Clinic in Pheonix, Arizona where she moved from Santa Clara, Utah following her divorce. Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, and cooking. She loved country music, visiting family, and traveling, including to Fiji and her family homeland of Sweden.

A lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Verla De married Dennis Nelson in the Houston, Texas temple in 2009. They resided together at his home in Spring until she passed away. Predeceased by her parents, three siblings, and grandson Cole, she is survived by her loving husband Dennis, her brother Gordon and sister Shellie. She is also survived by all three of her children Todd, Travis and Tyler as well as her grandchildren Cameron, Caitlin, Chase, Chloe, Avery, Bailey and Shae
