Velma Theus Husak Walleck
December 25, 1925 - May 30, 2018

Velma Theus entered this world on December 25, 1925 and departed for home on May 30, 2018.   She spent 92 wonderful years enjoying life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, poet, and painter.  She was a wife to two men, World War II hero Anton A. "Tony" Husak and power company engineer Lucian"Wally" Walleck.  Velma had two children –son Anton Tyrone "Ty"Husak and daughter Joan Carolyn HusakHalbrook - three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Born in Six Mile, Texas. Velma grew up on a farm with her sister and four brothers. She and Tony married in 1944, and after WWII they spent many yearstraveling the world together as Tony served as an officer in the U.S. Air Force in Guam, Bermuda, Greenland,and many locations in the United States. After retirement, Velma and Tony built a home on the Texas coast in Seadrift, andspent several years living aboard and sailing the Ya-Wim, their 65-foot sailboat.

Velma was an accomplished artist with many paintings in Rockport art galleries. She started painting in oils and later expanded to acrylic and prismacolors.  She specialized in seascapes and florals, but also painted landscapes, portraits and murals for churches.Velma liked to paint subjects she was familiar with.

Velma was also a published poet. She wrote poems for the local newspaper and later compiled them in her book The Call of Nature , with illustrations by herself and other artists.Her poems have given people many hours of enjoyment.

For twelve years, she lived with her second husband Wally in Victoria, and after his death in 1993,Velma moved to Tomball, Texas to live near her daughter Carolyn and her son-in-law Dee. She joined a group of "Daily Walkers", became active in the Tomball United Methodist Church, and spent much of her time being helpful and a joy to others.  You could see her little red Toyota pick-up all over town.  She also developed a strong interest in finding and artistically mounting beautiful antique buttons of all kinds.

Velma is preceded in death by her first husband Anton August "Tony"Husak, her second husband Lucian "Wally"Walleck, and her four brothers and sister.  She is survived by her son, Anton Tyrone "Ty" Husak and wife Donna Woodard Husak, daughter Carolyn Husak Halbrook and husband Dee Halbrook, granddaughter Jennifer Husak Bronson and husband Robert Bronson, granddaughter ElizabethHusakDuraj and husbandGenciDuraj, grandson Shannon Halbrook and wife Larissa Noake, great-granddaughters Alex Bronson and Frances Halbrook, and great-grandson Michael Bronson.
