Valeria Joyce Bowden was born on February 12, 1931 in Pic kton , Texas to Minton and Sarah Ham . She shared a beautiful childhood with her brother, Paul Ham. She went to h eaven on February 7, 2017.

Joyce graduated from Pickton High School in 1948 . After graduation , Joyce worked at Southwestern Bell in Dallas, Texas where she met the love of her life, James Bowden . Joyce married James on July 16, 1952 . Together they had two sons, Larry and Michael Bowden . James and Jo yce were founders of Belmar Baptist Church where Joyce enjoyed playing the piano. Joyce later became an active member of Graceview Baptist Church where she was a member until her passing. Joyce enjoyed spending time with family, praising the Lord with gospel music, hosting events, gardening, shopping, and sewing . She is survived by two children and their spouses, Larry and Karen Bowden and Michael and Annette Bowden . Her beloved grandchildren include Heather and spouse Lee Curry, Brooke Weeks, Brandi and spouse Dave Broome, James Cody Bowden, Heather and spouse Clinton Morgan, Kellie Bowden, Sarah Bowden, and Catherine Bowden. Her blessings of great-grandchildren include Payton Curry, Halaya Curry, Eric Hedlund, Matthew Hedlund, Aidan Broome, and Brendan Broome. She is also survived by her beloved nieces Keela and husband Tim Puckett, and Paula Ham as well as many cousins , friends and loved ones. Joyce was known by many names: daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, Gigi, and Mama . The most beautiful name , however, is beloved by Christ.
