Vada Raola Lyons Beckendorf, daughter of Frederick Milton Lyons and Grace Maud Saums Lyons was born September 3, 1925 in Barker, Texas.
Vada was confirmed by Reverend W. A. Menking on April 9, 1939 at the Addicks Methodist Church Addicks, Texas.
In 1942 Vada was baptized in the Addicks Methodist church by Reverend C. W. Schlechte and joined the church at the same time.
Vada married Marvin August Beckendorf on September 26, 1947 in the Addicks Methodist Church by Rev. W. A. Menking. Marvin and Vada joined Rose Hill Methodist Church on September 28, 1947 by transfer from Addicks Methodist Church, Reverend W. A. Craven was minister at the time and waited until October 1947, to take the entire Beckendorf Family in as members of the church.
A son Donald Wayne Beckendorf was born to Marvin and Vada on June 27, 1949.
Vada was active in church work at Rose Hill Methodist Church. She was secretary of the official board for eighteen years. A member of the building committee, taught Junior High and then Kindergarten Sunday School classes for a number of years. She was in charge of the children before going to Sunday school classes with singing and a Bible Story and led the children's choir for a number of years. She was director and teacher of Bible School for a number of years. She was a member,secretary and vice president of the Ladies Aide and later called Woman's Society.
Vada was active in Tomball School P.T.A. and served as Secretary for a number of years.
She was active in the Tomball Study Club and served as Secretary, Treasurer, and President. She was a member of the Texas German Society.
She was a member of the Rose Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Marvin, Donald and Vada were in charge of the serving at the annual Barbecue and was in charge of the potato salad for a number of years.
Vada enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes and made a cookbook for the children, grandchildren and a few friends of her favorite foods.
She enjoyed the outdoors and wanted to work beside Marvin.
She enjoyed being with Donald, DeAnn and grandchildren and going on vacations with them.
She enjoyed all the friends and kinfolks with meals, playing 42 and 84 and just visiting.
Preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Grace Lyons, sister, Iola Pearl Lyons Ehlert; husband of 70 years, Marvin Beckendorf, son, Donald Wayne Beckendorf.
Survived by, daughter-in-law, DeAnn Beckendorf; grandchildren, Jason Beckendorf and wife, Becky, Dana Farrell and husband, Scott, Jeannie Parker and husband, Justin, Daniel Beckendorf and fiancée, Nicole Hesseltine, great-grandchildren, Bailee Beckendorf, Paetyn Beckendorf, Tynlee Beckendorf, Samuel Farrell and Liam Parker, Special nephew and wife, Wayne Ehlert and Obie, and a number of nieces, nephews and many friends
