Troy Russell Gressett, age 87, passed away on August 18, 2024. Born on March 16, 1937, in Ferris, Texas, he was the beloved son of Tommie Russell Gressett and Myrtle (Smith) Gressett. Troy joined the United States Armed Forces in 1956 and served as a High-Speed Radio Operator in Paris, France, where he met the love of his life, Sheila Smith. On July 8, 1960, Troy and Sheila married in Houston, Texas.
Troy had a successful career as a Master Electrician and was a member of the
International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 716, for 50 years.
Troy enjoyed sharing his love of German Shepherds with Sheila as both were avid
members of the German Shepherd Dog Club of Houston. Troy's greatest joy came
from spending time with his family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love,
kindness, and service to others.
Troy is survived by his children, Debra (Gressett) Johnson of Dallas, Texas and
Amber Gressett of Sugar Land, Texas; his cherished grandchildren,
Jonathan Johnson and wife, Michelle of Prosper, Texas,
Kerrie Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Elizabeth Johnson of Munich, Germany;
his beloved great-grandchildren, David and Alexandra Johnson, both of Prosper,
Texas; his Brothers in law and Sisters in law, Jackie Smith, Graham and Enid Smith,
Bruce and Janet Smith, all of Europe, as well as a host of other family members
and friends who will miss him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Sheila Gressett; his brothers, Tommie Orvis "T. O." Gressett, William Keith "Billy" Gressett, Don "Herschel" Gressett; his sisters, Maureen (Gressett) McCoy, Mamie Jean (Gressett) Smith, Karen (Gressett) McCauley Brown, his son-in-law David Johnson, as well as his parents, Tommie Russell and Myrtle Gressett,
