It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Tonya Irene Grabruck (Husk), 48, on September 21, 2026, in Houston, Texas. She was born on January 22, 1978, to Terry Lee Husk, Sr. and Debra Ann Covert in Richmond, Virginia.
Tonya grew up in Arizona, Georgia, and then Texas, where she graduated from Tomball High School in 1996. She went on to pursue an education at the National Academy of Beauty Arts. A large part of her life was spent making the ordinary extraordinary; she was a hair and makeup artist in the Houston area for many years, making brides and bridesmaids feel beautiful on their special day. She was also known for other talents, such as crafting and sewing, where she would find unique clothes and modify them to fit her exactly how she envisioned. Her interest in helping others and serving her community was also an important part of her life, and she often found herself working in the healthcare field, where she felt she could make a positive impact on patients' lives.
More than anything, Tonya wanted to be a mom, and of all the amazing, creative endeavors she pursued, her love for her three boys was always paramount. She loved watching them excel at sports, showing off their art projects and drawings, or telling everyone how smart and amazing they all are.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Logan Anderson, Luke Grabruck, and Carter Grabruck; her parents, Debra Covert (Mike) and Terry Husk, Sr. (Jody) and her grandma Wilma Hillstead; her siblings, Jenny (Nik), Casey (Nick), Terry Jr., and Tyler, as well as her step-siblings, Darrell and Carrie; and her cousin, Kindra, who was like a sister to her. She was surrounded by a strong community and extended family, including Chris Grabruck.
She is loved by many other people, including her aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends and coworkers.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Alicia, and her grandparents: Donald Husk, Mary Rackley (George), Dolores Shields, and Dale Hillstead.
Future services will be planned to honor and celebrate her life.
